CAFÉ SCHAFRATH

This building was constructed in 1882 by A.J. van Wijk-de Vries as an inn and lodging house with an upstairs room. Behind the café is a bakery. Around 1910, Tidor Schafrat(h) took over the café and bakery. The original pointed roof of the building was replaced in 1922 by a French roof or mansard roof, a type of roof with broken and outwardly bent surfaces. The four dormer windows were also added at that time. The interior still has its original layout and features wooden panelling from around 1950. The building is now used exclusively as a café, having lost its hotel and guesthouse function around 1980.

Dit pand is gebouwd in 1882 door A.J. van Wijk-de Vries als herberg en logement met opkamer. Achter het café is een bakkerij. Rond 1910 heeft Tidor Schafrat(h) het café en de bakkerij overgenomen. De oorspronkelijk spitse kap van het pand is in 1922 vervangen door een Franse kap of mansardedak, een type dak met gebroken en naar buiten geknikte vlakken. Ook de vier dakkapellen zijn toen aangebracht. Het interieur heeft nog de oorspronkelijke indeling en is voorzien van een houten lambrisering uit omstreeks 1950. Het pand is nu uitsluitend als café in gebruik, de hotel- en pensionfunctie heeft het rond 1980 verloren.
