HOUSE WITH THE GLOBES

Mansion in the Amsterdam School style, built in 1923 on behalf of manufacturer Johan Raessens and designed by architect Frans Wolters. Characteristic of the Amsterdam School is the use of lots of brick and decorative brickwork. The building has a symmetrical facade with very distinctive brick structures. The attic window consists of two pentagonal windows. The building derives its nickname from the two globes on either side of the front door.

Herenhuis in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School gebouwd in 1923 in opdracht van fabrikant Johan Raessens onder architectuur van Frans Wolters. Kenmerkend voor de Amsterdamse School is het gebruik van veel baksteen en het toepassen van versieringen in baksteen. Het pand heeft een symmetrische voorgevel met zeer uitgesproken baksteenconstructies. Het zolderraampje bestaat uit twee vijfhoekige raampjes. De bijnaam ontleent het pand aan de twee bollen ter weerszijden van de voordeur.
